The following help is designed to get you started. If you would like to know more about what commands are available Japan World recommends you visit IRCStorm.net

On the Jchat main login page:

  • Your user name: This can be anything you want. This is not your nickname but is available if other want to see whom you are.
  • Your nickname: This will be the name displayed in the Jchat room. Make it unique and register it once in the Jchat room.
  • Your email address: Speaks for itself and is totally optional. You will need to enter a valid email address if you want to register your nickname.
  • Join Channel: This is already set to #Jchat which is the Japan World chatroom.
  • Hit the CONNECT button and you will be taken to the Jchat chatroom.

To register your nick name:

  • Type in the following once in the chatroom
  • /msg NickServ register [password] [email]
  • example /msg NickServ register top45rok topgirl@yahoo.com

To identify your nickname once in the chatroom:

  • Type in the following once in the chatroom:
  • /msg NickServ indentify [password]
  • example /msg NickServ identify top45rok
  • You have to identify your nickname every 30days or it will drop off the NickServ database.

To make the chat window larger use the FLOAT button. This will bring up the #Jchat window which can then be resized to your desire. When doing this don't lose the main JChat page or it will end your chat session. Just minimise it to your task bar and let it run in the background. If you want to keep exploring Japan World start a new window.
